Microdermabrasion

The Microdermabrasion Exfoliation System used in our clinics is a crystal free treatment that promotes a smoother more youthful skin. Using the patented DiamondTome™ wands the treatment is a safe, therapeutic approach to superior skin care results.

MicroExfoliation is a technique that removes a thin layer of dead skin cells on the epidermal layer, leaving it more supple and vibrant. The Exfoliation System removes this layer by gently polishing the skin with natural diamond chips bonded to the tip of the wand, while vacuuming the exfoliated skin cells away in a controlled manner. Removing this outer layer leaves a smoother texture and promotes the growth of healthy new skin.

Exfoliation also stimulates vascular circulation beneath the surface of the skin resulting in a healthier and firmer appearance. Treatment can be performed on the face, neck, chest, hands, back, legs, and elbows. It can be used alone, or in combination with other treatments such as Skin rejuvenation and Chemical peels.

Results are based on a reasonable treatment schedule. Visits spaced a month apart are common with a maintenance treatment every three months. To achieve maximum results, several treatments are recommended. Yours skin care professional will provide you a treatment plan.

MicroExfoliation treatments using the DiamondTome™ Wands offers exceptional benefits. Ideal for a special event or as a program for overall skin rejuvenation, this treatment is non-invasive, pain-free and requires no downtime from work or social activities. Normal activities may be resumed immediately after the treatment.*

FAQ

Microdermabrasion

What is MicroExfoliation (microdermabrasion)?

MicroExfoliation is a skin-revitalizing treatment that helps repair skin that is damaged from the sun, scars, acne and the unwanted effects of aging. Our trained professional uses gentle abrasion along with a vacuum system to remove the dead, outer layer of skin. Removing the outer layer of dead skin leaves a smoother texture and promotes the growth of healthy new skin cells.

Does Microdermabrasion hurt?

No, it doesn’t generally hurt, it feels like a light abrasion. Our Certified Laser Technician will customize the level of pressure to your skin type. Your skin may feel warm and appear pinkish immediately following treatment, but this will not last.

How do I prepare for Microdermabrasion?

There are no specific preparation instructions for this treatment. We do recommend that you avoid any substance (acid peels, heavy exfoliation, etc.) and any situation (such as sun burn) that may leave your skin sensitive on treatment day. We don’t perform Microdermabrasion on clients with Rocasea or broken capillaries.

How long does the procedure take and how many treatments will I need?

Microdermabrasion is a 45 minute treatment. Clients will see and feel noticeable improvements after each treatment. Severe skin problems, such as deep acne scars and dark spots, will take several treatments before any improvement is noticeable.

How will I look after the treatment?

Your skin may look slightly flushed immediately after the treatment but should return to normal in 10 to 30 minutes. Your skin will look and feel smoother even after the first treatment.

What will I do after the treatment?

Your Dermal Skin specialist will recommend skin care products to maintain the results of your treatment at home. However, it is advisable to avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for at least a few days after your treatment. A sunscreen is essential to use afterwards since exfoliated skin has temporarily lost some of its natural protection to the environment.

Can I combine Microdermabrasion with another treatment?

Yes, you can. Microdermabrasion is the perfect compliment to other treatments, including BOTOX® and dermal fillers, chemical peels, skin rejuvenation and skin tightening. We can customize a skin treatment package for individual skin types and desired results.

Medical-Grade Peel

What is a Medical-Grade Peel?

Our Medical Grade Peels are a combination of Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA) and Beta Hydroxy Acids (BHA) or Enzymes and Peptides. These chemical exfoliations promote facial rejuvenation, reduce appearance of hyperpigmentation as well as acne and minor scarring caused by acne.

How is the peel performed?

Our exfoliative treatment products are applied to the skin at a concentration predetermined level that is best for your skin type. Our medical-grade peels have the highest concentration available. The peel is left on for approximately 3-10 minutes, depending on your skin type. We then apply a nourishing mask, post peel medical grade recovery cream and a broad spectrum sunscreen.

How many peels will I need?

Most clients should plan on receiving 4 to 6 peels, every two to three weeks, to achieve optimal results. A single peel will firm and freshen the skin, however improvement is gradual and seen as treatments progress.

What are the risks?

Some people respond to a chemical peels with only mild pinkness or redness. Adverse reactions such as gentle peeling are possible.

How do I prepare for a Chemical Peel?

Avoid exfoliating and applying exfoliating agents (retinol, AHA/BHA, benzoyl peroxide) or any other product which includes prescription based ingredients for about 24 hours prior to your medical-grade peel. Notify us if you have cold sores, fever blisters, or herpes outbreak anywhere on the face prior to appointment.

What should I do post-peel?

It is important that you refrain from using home skin care products that contain active ingredients or other topical skin products that could irritate the skin for at least 24 hours post treatment. It is advisable that you follow the recommended home skin care that your Dermal Laser Skin Health Specialist suggested. This will maintain and enhance your results.

*Individual downtime, results and treatment times may vary.
